You must be over 21
In order to purchase, possess or use retail marijuana, you must have a valid ID proving you’re 21 or older. It’s that simple.
Use it on private property, not public space
Using marijuana in any form (smoking, eating, or vaping) isn’t allowed in public places, including amusement parks, ski resorts, sporting and music venues, state and national parks, campsites, playgrounds, sidewalks and roads, marijuana retail businesses, bars, restaurants and outdoor or rooftop cafes.
So where can you use it? Marijuana use is legal within the confines of private property. Just keep in mind that property owners, landlords, and rental companies can ban the use and possession of marijuana on their premises.
Federal land is under federal law
Marijuana is legal by state of Colorado law. Federally? Not so much. If you’re on federal land, such as a national park or a national forest, you can’t even have it in your possession.
Keep it in Colorado
It’s illegal to leave Colorado with any marijuana products. Additionally, Denver International Airport has banned the possession of marijuana products on its property.
Don’t drive high
It’s illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana. If you get caught, you could be charged with a DUI. By law, you can’t drive if you have five nanograms or more of THC in your system. As a rule of thumb, if you’re smoking, wait at least six hours before driving. If you’re ingesting, wait at least eight.
Keep it sealed in your car
If you have marijuana in your car, make sure it’s sealed and unused. It’s illegal to open and use any marijuana in a vehicle. That goes for both the passenger and the driver. Stay legal and safe—keep it sealed.
You can only buy and hold so much at a time
Adults over the age of 21 can purchase up to one ounce of marijuana per day. Adults can have up to two ounces of marijuana in their possession at any time.
Only buy from a licensed retailer
Licensed retail locations are the only legal place to purchase marijuana. It is illegal for any individual to buy or sell marijuana without a state and local marijuana business license.
There’s a limit to how much you can grow
Coloradans can grow marijuana in their homes for personal use. Up to six plants are allowed per Colorado resident over age 21, with as many as three plants flowering at one time. Plants must be grown in a secure, locked location, not in a yard. Counties and municipalities can pass stricter laws. Check your local laws for specific details.
Only medical patients can buy medical marijuana
Patients with qualifying debilitating medical conditions can receive a registry identification card for legal access to medical marijuana. Cards are available to Colorado residents and are valid only in Colorado. Colorado medical dispensaries cannot accept medical marijuana cards from other states. See our medical dispensary,
Colorado Alternative Health Care, for more information.
Don’t share marijuana with those under 21
It’s a felony to give or share retail marijuana with someone younger than 21 years old. This includes family members and friends.
If pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor
There is no known safe amount of marijuana use while pregnant or breastfeeding. Speak with your doctor before using cannabis.
Marijuana concentrates
Marijuana concentrates are highly potent forms of cannabis and should be used by experienced cannabis users, they are not recommended for new or inexperienced cannabis users. CLICK HERE for more information on the risks and precautions associated with using marijuana concentrates.

Flower, bud, weed, cannabis... what's the diff?
Nothing! They are all different names for the same incredible plant. Cannabis is the proper botanical name; Marijuana is the historical term; Weed is casual slang; and Flower is the industry term specifically referring to the smokable, trichome-covered Buds harvested from the mature female plant.
How about Sativa, Hybrid & Indica?
Think of them as the three main branches of the cannabis experience:
Sativa: Tends to offer an uplifting, energetic, and creative head buzz. Ideal for daytime use.
Hybrid: A blend of both worlds, crossbred to give you a balanced mix of physical relaxation and mental effects.
Indica: Known for a deeply relaxing, body-heavy effect. Perfect for unwinding at night (a great way to remember it is "in-da-couch").
Then WTF are terpenes?
Terpenes are the natural essential oils found in the plant that give different strains their unique smells (like citrus, pine, or diesel fuel) and heavily influence how that strain makes you feel: if THC is the engine that drives your high, terpenes are the steering wheel. For example, a strain high in myrcene has a good chance to couch-lock you, while a strain packed with limonene will usually feel bright and euphoric. Think OG Kush vs Super Lemon Haze.

What does "deli-style" mean?
It means we don't believe in buying blind. Instead of handing you a pre-sealed, mystery bag from a back room, our flower is kept in large glass jars right at the bud bar. Your budtender will open them up, let you see and smell the exact flower you're purchasing, and then weigh out your selection right in front of you.
I’m new to edibles. How much should I take?
The ultimate rule of edibles is to start low and go slow (Go see our Pro-Tips section for more on that idea). While the standard recreational serving size in Colorado is 10mg of THC, we strongly recommend beginners start with a dose of 2.5mg to 5mg. Because edibles have to pass through your digestive system, they can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 full hours to kick in.
Start low & Go slow
There’s no gold medal for eating 100mg in a single sitting (yet), find the dosage that works for you and your body.

The nose knows
Follow your nose when it comes to picking out marijuana flower or concentrates – it can’t read numbers and it doesn’t need to.
THC & Fat
THC binds to fat to be able to pass through your liver, make the most of your edibles on a full stomach with plenty of fats to bind to.
